About East Asian Judo Federation

Welcome to the East Asia Judo Federation (EAJF)!

The EAJF is a legally recognised sports association and a proud member of the Judo Union of Asia (JUA). As one of the five regional organisations under the JUA’s umbrella, our primary goal is to support and promote the development of judo in East Asia.

Our mission is to lead and advance the practice of judo in the East Asia region. We provide guidance and assistance to the judo federations of eight member countries/regions, including China, Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, Korea, Macau SAR and Mongolia. Together, we strive to organize high-quality judo events, training programs, and various activities to foster the growth of judo.

At the helm of the East Asia Judo Federation is our esteemed president, Lu Wei-zhen. He was elected as the president of the EAJF at the JUA General Assembly held in Kuwait in 2015. Recognising his exceptional leadership, he was reelected for consecutive terms at the JUA General Assemblies in 2019 and 2023.

We invite you to explore our website and discover more about the East Asia Judo Federation, our events, initiatives, and the exceptional judo community we represent. Together, let us continue to embrace the spirit of judo and contribute to its growth and success in East Asia.

Year Founded

East Asia Judo Championships

One of the highlights of our calendar, the East Asia Judo Championships, the official judo competition hosted by the EAJF. Since its inception in 2006, the East Asia Judo Championships have been held annually, except during the years when the East Asian Games take place. This prestigious event showcases the remarkable talent and skill of judo practitioners from our region. Additionally, we proudly hosted the first East Asia Youth and Cadet Judo Championships in Taipei City in 2017.

While the COVID-19 pandemic posed challenges, we are delighted to announce that the East Asia Judo Championships are set to resume. In 2023, the East Asia Youth and Cadet Judo Championships successfully took place in Taipei City, and we eagerly anticipate the return of the senior championships in 2024.
